Past Arizona Colleens

A Proud Arizona Irish Tradition

The Arizona Colleen Program began in 1983 as the Arizona Colleen Pageant, a heritage pageant celebrating Irish ancestry, culture, and community. The program is open to single women of Irish ancestry between the ages of 18 and 28.

Each year, the selected Arizona Colleen serves as the “Queen” of the Phoenix St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Faire, representing the Irish community at one of Arizona’s most beloved cultural celebrations.

Over the years, the program has grown beyond a single annual title. In 2008, additional programs were created for younger ladies of Irish descent. The Little Miss Shamrock Program selects two participants ages 6–12, while the Arizona Irish Lass Program, originally titled the Arizona Outstanding Irish Teen Program and renamed in 2010, selects one to two participants ages 13–17.

The Arizona Colleen and Arizona Rose programs are organized by the Phoenix St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Faire Committee. Together, these programs help connect the Arizona Irish community while also celebrating the broader global Irish diaspora through events, cultural awareness, and community involvement.
